Angle-closure glaucoma risk

Also called: Acute angle-closure glaucoma

A sudden increase in eye pressure that some antidepressants, including trazodone, can trigger in people with a particular anatomical eye risk factor (narrow anterior chamber angle).

Trazodone's labeling notes eye pain, vision changes, or swelling/redness around the eye as symptoms warranting prompt medical attention. People with known narrow-angle glaucoma risk factors may be advised to have an eye exam before starting antidepressants like trazodone.
