What should I do if I get a headache from trazodone?

Short answer: Mild headache is common, especially early in treatment, and often improves with time. Stay hydrated, and mention severe or persistent headaches to your prescriber.

Editorially reviewed

Headache is one of the more commonly reported trazodone side effects, particularly in the first weeks. Basic measures like hydration and consistent sleep can help. A headache that is severe, sudden ("worst headache of your life"), or comes with vision changes or confusion needs prompt medical evaluation regardless of what medication you're taking.
